T-minus 11 Days Until March Brigade Take Off!!!

We are a little bit over a week away from leaving Bucknell’s campus and starting our service-learning trip to Nicaragua! I can’t believe that the time has come so soon – it seems that I have been preparing for this trip for months, and now, instead of the time remaining being months, it’s now down to days! Our Brigade has worked tirelessly fundraising and preparing for this trip, and I am sure the other members are just as enthusiastic as I am. Personally, from working in the Office of Civic Engagement as a Brigade intern, I have learned so much about the process and work that goes into planning this trip. From cataloging various medical donations like antacids and prenatal vitamins, to organizing them into luggage bags, I have enjoyed the behind-the-scenes work that has gone into making both the January and March trips possible. I am excited and anxious now that I finally get the chance to see firsthand the impact that these donations will have on the Nueva Vida community. I am looking forward to every part of this trip, starting with traveling with my fellow Brigadistas, to performing the hard work inside and outside of the clinic, and lastly, for all of the people I am going to meet once I get there. Nicaragua here we come! – Brianna Rutty, Bucknell Brigade Intern
